“It was nothing to do with Gold Coast airport, it’s just we weren’t ready,” a spokeswoman for Air Asia X told Travel Today.
The airline - an offshoot of Asia's biggest low cost airline Air Asia – has said that it now plans to begin flights to Australia from its Kuala Lumpur base after the Islamic holiday Hari Raya Puasa on October 13.
A formal announcement is expected in the next week but it is expected that Air Asia X will begin with a schedule of four flights per week between the Gold Coast and Kuala Lumpur.
